On Tuesday, I went to get some lemon juice out of the fridge and upon opening the door, the dairy/butter doors crashed to the floor. WTF?!
Upon looking at the divider that holds the doors, it seems the little locking tabs that snap it into position, had broken. Ugh. I spent almost two our looking for the part online, but GE stopped making the part some time ago. I called GE’s appliance parts group and they suggested my best bet was to “keep an eye on eBay” … That was not what I wanted to hear.
Then it dawned on me that I could make the replacement part. After about two hours with my digital caliper and Fusion360, I was able to 3D print a replacement part that snapped in nice and tight and holds the doors. Phew!
